Transferring reserved instances
How MilkStraw AI transfers your EC2 reserved instances
Why do you need to transfer reserved instances?
When you no longer need a reserved instance due to infrastructure changes, such as changing the instance’s family, downgrading or upgrading it, transferring the reserved instance ensures you won’t pay for unused resources.
When MilkStraw AI buys you reserved instances through the recommendations you approved on our dashboard, we take full responsibility for the commitments on those reserved instances.
We always make sure that you save money on those reserved instances, the moment you stop saving money, we will send you a recommendation to sell those reserved instances.
How it works
We scan your AWS account hourly. If we detect underutilization in a reserved instance we purchased for you, we create a sell recommendation in the MilkStraw AI app dashboard.
When you approve the recommendation, we list the instance in the AWS reserved instances marketplace and purchase it from another MilkStraw AI customer’s AWS account.
Is it secure?
We don’t share user or account data between customers. The transfer process happens through the AWS reserved instance marketplace apis.
AWS Marketplace ensures full anonymity between the buyer and the seller in the reserved instance transfer process.
Enable transferring reserved instances
To allow MilkStraw AI to move reserved instances on your behalf, you need to be registered as a seller on the AWS reserved instance marketplace.
